Jim Nowotny

Jim Nowotny has over 40 years of experience in the field of information technology. Jim is currently serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Dwellwell Analytics, Inc. Since joining the startup company, Hillcrest Labs, in 2001 as an IT Director, Jim has been responsible for the development and implementation of the company's information technology environment, primarily supporting software and hardware engineers. Before that, they held the position of IT Director at FileTek from 1993 to 2001, where they set technical direction, planned network infrastructure, and managed a team of five. With their own consulting business, which they operated from 1982 to 1997, Jim worked on various projects including LAN and WAN implementations, internet connection setups, firewall installations, and office automation projects. Jim also served as a Senior System Analyst at the University of Maryland from 1990 to 1993, managing the department's voice and data communication networks, and providing technical support for hardware and software. Prior to that, Jim worked as a Field Engineer at Systec, Inc. from 1982 to 1983, troubleshooting and repairing IBM mainframe and compatible equipment, and taught classes on Control Data Corporation disk subsystems. Jim started their career as a Customer Engineer at Control Data Corporation from 1978 to 1981, where they received the Outstanding Employee of the Year award twice.

Jim Nowotny completed a degree in Computer Technology from Control Data Institute in 1978. Jim went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science and Business Administration from Montgomery College in 1984. Finally, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Maryland in 1994.
