Joris Rijbroek serves as the Directeur of the Institute for Societal Resilience at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since January 2016, addressing complex social challenges such as inequality, polarization, and radicalization through interdisciplinary collaboration. Rijbroek is also a member of the Programmaraad of the Kenniscentrum Ongelijkheid, focusing on research to describe and combat various forms of inequality in the Amsterdam metropolitan area. In addition, Rijbroek holds positions as Chair of the Sociaal Fonds Podiumkunsten, Board Member at Dynamo, and is pursuing a PhD in 'Building Images' at the University of Amsterdam, concentrating on mosque development in the Netherlands. Previously, Rijbroek held significant roles in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, and the Municipality of Amsterdam, contributing expertise in integration, diversity policy, and social cohesion. Educational background includes a Master's degree in Human Geography from the University of Amsterdam and various management programs.
