Tommy Xu

Tommy Xu is a Machine Learning Software Engineer I at Borealis AI, specializing in ML engineering for the Royal Bank of Canada since May 2024. Prior experience includes working as an undergraduate teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia, where instruction focused on algorithms and data science courses. Tommy has held various roles at Borealis AI, including the development of a distributed data pipeline and automated data backtesting, as well as leading a team in creating a recommendation system for the Minivillage social network. Additional experience encompasses full-stack development at DYNE, contributions to Calabrio’s business intelligence platform, and involvement in machine learning research for cancer classification at UBC. Tommy holds a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science and Statistics and is pursuing a Master's in Management at UBC.
