Gaberella Navidi-Kasmai

Gaberella Navidi-Kasma teaches Spanish and dance at E.L. Haynes High School. She joined the E.L. Haynes community in 2017, and since 2019 has also served as Teacher Leader. In addition to her leadership and teaching roles at the high school, Mrs. Navidi-Kasmai dedicates time to being an active member of LULAC, the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States. Through LULAC, Mrs. Navidi-Kasmai helps further the future of Hispanic youth by leading a youth council and contributing to the organization’s Council 11041, a body of members who review students’ college applications and connect families with various scholarship opportunities throughout the region. Beyond her professional and volunteer roles, Gaberella is also an Assistant Artistic Director and lead dancer for the Corazón Folklórico Dance Company. As part of this nonprofit organization, she is one of the resident artists at the Mexican Embassy’s Cultural Institute of Washington, D.C.

Gaberella earned her undergraduate degree with a double major in Spanish and Political Science and a Security Studies Certificate from Dickinson College in Pennsylvania. Following her undergraduate studies, Mrs. Navidi-Kasmai returned to her hometown of Baltimore to teach at Baltimore City Public Schools as a Teach for America corps member while simultaneously earning her Master’s of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
