Robert Byrne is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background in scientific affairs, quality systems, and research. Robert began their career at the University of Chicago, where they worked as a Research Associate and Assistant Professor, conducting studies on plasma lipoprotein cell-surface interactions and proteolytic modification of low-density lipoprotein. During this time, they published numerous scientific papers.

After their tenure at the University, Byrne joined Baxter Diagnostics as a Scientist in Protein Chemistry R&D. There, they contributed to the development of paramagnetic microparticle-based blood-screening assays for infectious diseases. Robert also developed a superior method for Syphilis Western blot assay.

Byrne then joined Abbott Laboratories, where they held two positions. Firstly, as a Technical Specialist, they led the Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Business Team, overseeing manufacturing, testing, troubleshooting, validation, and continuous improvement projects. Robert ensured quality assurance and eliminated customer complaints through investigations and corrective actions. Secondly, as a Sr. Research Scientist, they supervised an R&D group for STD Chlamydia Rare Reagents and improved the specificity of the anti-Chlamydia antibody reagents.

Next, Byrne worked at Pharmaceutical Systems Inc. as the Vice President of Biotechnology, Research, and Lab Operations. In this role, they directed biotechnology research and lab operations, consulted for various industries, and provided support for regulatory submissions.

In 2007, Byrne established their consulting company, R.E. Byrne Consulting, where they worked as a Senior Consultant, specializing in quality systems and chemistry.

Currently, Byrne serves as the Vice President of Scientific Affairs at Eagle Analytical, where they play a crucial role in overseeing scientific affairs and maintaining high standards in operations.

Robert Byrne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Dayton from 1970 to 1974. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame from 1974 to 1979.
