Laura Amster is a woman-owned business consultant who specializes in business strategy, organizational transformation, human capital transformation, process improvement, program management, and change management. Laura has worked with a range of public, private, and non-profit organizations in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and across the nation. A recognized leader in their field, Laura has earned awards from The Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, Washingtonian, and Vault as a best place to work. Laura has been named by Consulting Magazine as one of the “Fifty Fastest Growing Firms", earned #2 and #19 on Vault's “Best Boutique Consulting Firms” and “Top 50 Consulting Firms” lists respectively, and was recognized by Forbes as one of “America’s Best Management Consulting Firms".
Prior to their current position, Laura served as an independent contractor bookkeeper where they developed and implemented a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts and defining bookkeeping policies and procedures for a recently established organization. Laura also has experience as an operations manager with The Global Switchboard and adjunct faculty at Duquesne University. In addition, Laura has served as an independent contractor with Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity.
Laura Amster has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. Her activities and societies include the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership, Graduate Student Advisor- Model United Nations Club, and Outreach Assistant- Global Studies Center.
