Gearoid O'Connell, PHD

Gearoid O'Connell, PHD has a diverse work experience in various data science roles. Gearoid worked as a Staff Data Scientist at Earnest Analytics since January 2022 and previously held the position of Senior Data Scientist from May 2020 to January 2022. Before that, they were the Lead Data Scientist at ctrlio from January 2018 to April 2020, where they closely collaborated with the CEO and chief product officer to develop and refine products for insurers. Gearoid also worked as a Data Scientist at ECOVIS Wingrave Yeats from October 2016 to December 2017, providing data analytics services to clients in different industries. From March 2015 to October 2016, they served as an Analyst at Servelec Technologies Ltd. Lastly, Gearoid completed their PHD at Trinity College Dublin, where they conducted research on metallic plasmas formed using ultrafast laser pulses. Gearoid also gained experience as a Teaching Assistant, demonstrating physics laboratory experiments and teaching computer tutorials for first-year science undergraduate students.

Gearoid O'Connell, PhD, completed their education in a well-rounded manner. Gearoid began their academic journey at Ardscoil Rís secondary school, where they attended from 1998 to 2004. Following their secondary education, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Experimental Physics at Trinity College Dublin, where they studied from 2004 to 2009. Continuing their passion for physics, they then furthered their education at Trinity College Dublin, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics in the years 2009 to 2014.
