Dave Thurman serves as the Managing Director of Global Campuses and Regional Dean & CEO for the Seattle Campus at Northeastern University, overseeing strategy development and academic affairs in the Seattle area since November 2018. Additionally, Dave holds Board Member positions at Technology Alliance and Earth and Space Research. Previously, Dave led the Seattle Research Center at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, supervising over 250 professionals across various technical fields and managing substantial program portfolios in national security and cyber analytics. Dave's early career included roles at the Georgia Institute of Technology and Battelle/PNNL, focusing on human-machine systems and computational sciences. Dave holds a Master of Science in Human-Machine Systems Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics.

Earth and Space Research (ESR) is a Seattle-based, nonprofit institute specializing in oceanographic research. Our research at ESR covers a wide range of topics from polar oceanography to equatorial studies. We also conduct frequent K-12 outreach activities, introducing kids to basics of oceanography and climate through hands-on learning.
