Director Of Field Research at Earth Refuge

Lauren Grant has a diverse work experience in the field of climate change, human mobility, and human rights. Lauren is currently the Founding Director of the International School on Climate Migration, where they lead an interdisciplinary educational program focused on climate-induced displacement. Previously, they worked as the Director of Field Research and Director of Governance at Earth Refuge, a role in which they conducted field research and oversaw governance activities. Lauren has also served as a Research Associate at the Global Centre for Climate Mobility and the SLYCAN Trust, where they focused on climate change and human mobility. Additionally, Lauren has worked as the Human Rights, Migration, and Conflict Resolution Program Coordinator at MENA Studies Division: Takamul Centre for Studies and Research. Lauren has also held roles at SOAS University of London, Diar Foundation, Minority Rights Group International, Central European University, and Háttér Társaság (Háttér Society), where they have contributed to research, program coordination, and academic editing.

Lauren Grant has a diverse education history. Lauren received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies & Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies (Social Justice) from Oregon State University in 2019. In 2018, they participated in an exchange program at The University of British Columbia, focusing on Gender, Race, and Social Justice. Lauren further pursued their studies at Central European University, where they obtained a Master of Arts degree in Human Rights in 2020. Lauren also completed the International Human Rights Defender Certificate from the same institution in 2020. In 2021, they attended the SOAS University of London and earned a Master of Science degree in Violence, Conflict, and Development. Continuing their educational journey, Lauren participated in the Genocide & Human Rights University Studies Program at the International Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies in 2021. Lauren has obtained additional certifications, including Research Integrity: Core from Oxford University Press, Design, Monitoring and Evaluation for Programming in Fragile Environments from the United States Institute of Peace, and completed courses at the Oxford School of Climate Change and Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen on the Sustainable Development Goals. Lauren Grant has upcoming studies at the United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) in the 2023 Climate Academy.
