Derek Adams, PhD, is the current CEO and Founder of EarthBridge Energy LLC, where they are developing long duration storage technology to achieve a 100% renewable energy future. Derek worked for ExxonMobil from 2011-2021, where they held various project management and senior scientist roles, focusing on geologic projects in Brazil, the Western Gulf of Mexico, and the Gulf of Mexico. In their roles, they led cross-functional teams, formulated company strategies, analyzed seismic and well data to guide exploration programs, and coordinated with various stakeholders to plan, permit, and safely drill appraisal wells. Prior to ExxonMobil, they held intern positions at both ExxonMobil and Chevron, and worked as a Geological Associate at the Institute of Tectonic Studies and Laboratory Assistant at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Derek Adams, PhD earned their Bachelors of Science in Geology from New Mexico State University in 2004. Derek then attended Northwestern University from 2005 to 2011 where they earned their PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences. In addition, they have obtained certifications as an Amateur Radio Operator through the Federal Communications Commission, as an Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America, and as an Open Water Diver through PADI.
