Patrick Schwientek

Patrick Schwientek currently serves as the VP of Biology at EarthOptics since September 2024. Prior to this position, Schwientek held the role of VP of Biology at Pattern Ag from May 2023 to November 2024. From October 2021 to May 2023, Schwientek was a Senior Principal Scientist and Team Lead in Bioinformatics at Nautilus Biotechnology, following a previous position as Cofounder and CTO at Oralta from June 2018 to October 2021. Schwientek's career began at Bayer Crop Science, where a series of roles culminated in the position of Principal Scientist and Team Lead in Bioinformatics from October 2013 to July 2018. Earlier experience includes positions at the Joint Genome Institute, where Schwientek worked as a Scientist and PostDoc in Bioinformatics from April 2012 to October 2013. Schwientek earned a Ph.D. in Genome Research of Industrial Microorganisms and holds Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Genome Based Systems Biology and Bioinformatics and Genome Research from Bielefeld University.
