Abel Marcarini

Carbon Project Lead - Brazil at Earthshot Labs

Abel Marcarini has extensive work experience in the environmental and forestry field. Abel currently serves as the Carbon Project Lead in Brazil at Earthshot Labs since November 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Program Officer at Verra from November 2020 to October 2022.

Before joining Verra, Abel worked at South Pole from August 2014 to October 2020. During their time there, they held the position of Project Manager, specializing in Forest and Land Use. Abel also worked as an A/R and REDD+ Project Intern from February 2014 to July 2014.

Abel's earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant at AgroParisTech - Institut des sciences et industries du vivant et de l'environnement from February 2013 to June 2013. Abel also worked as a Research Intern at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) from February 2012 to April 2012.

Additionally, Abel has experience as a Forest Inventory Team Leader at Hdom Engenharia e Projetos Ambientais Ltda, where they worked from April 2011 to June 2011 and from August 2010 to October 2010. Abel also worked as a Forest Inventory Team Leader at INPA - National Institute for Amazonian Research in May 2010.

Abel started their career as an Intern at Corporación Nacional Forestal in January 2010, where they gained knowledge about forest inventory and the management of National Parks in Chile. Prior to that, they worked as an Intern at WEG in July 2008, where they focused on forestry activities such as planting, harvesting, sawmill operations, and packaging manufacturing.

Abel Marcarini has a diverse education history. In 2004, they began their studies at Universidade Federal do Paraná, where they obtained a degree in Forest Engineering in 2009. Later on, in 2011, they enrolled at the University of Eastern Finland to pursue a Master's in European Forestry, which they completed in 2012. Following this, in 2012-2013, Abel attended AgroParisTech, obtaining a Master's in Life and Environmental Sciences and Technologies with a specialization in European Forestry.

In addition to their formal education, Abel has also acquired several certifications. In 2016, they completed the "Bajemos la temperatura: De la ciencia climática a la acción" course offered by Coursera. The same year, they obtained their Open Water Diver certification from SSI Scuba Schools International. More recently, in 2020, Abel completed the Climate Reality Leadership Training course provided by The Climate Reality Project. Abel also has additional certifications in Climate Change Science & Negotiations and The Age of Sustainable Development, though specific details regarding their completion are not available.
