Bryan Alvarez

Bryan Alvarez has over 17 years of work experience in various roles and organizations. Most recently, they served as the Director of School and Neighborhood Partnerships at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, starting in June 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Associate Director of School and Neighborhood Partnerships at the same organization from December 2021 to June 2022. From August 2019 to December 2021, Bryan was the Director of Music Programs at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts.

Before their time at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, Bryan worked at the Oakland Unified School District as a Program Director and Educator from November 2014 to August 2019. Bryan also had experience as a Co-founder at Mind My Education, LLC from November 2013 to November 2014, and as a Program Director and Co-Founder at Beyond Academia - UCBerkeley from March 2013 to November 2014.

Furthermore, Bryan held the position of Program Director and Co-Founder at UCB Mind and Brain Outreach from 2008 to August 2014. Bryan also worked as a Scientific Consultant and Co-writer at Moxie Institute from March 2012 to July 2014.

Bryan began their career as a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at the National Institutes of Health in September 2004 and later became a Special Volunteer from May 2004 to August 2004.

Bryan Alvarez completed their education in a chronological manner. Bryan started their educational journey in 1999 at Oberlin College, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Music degree. During their time at Oberlin College, Bryan studied Biology, Neuroscience, and Trombone Performance, which they completed in 2004.

Afterward, Bryan enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley in 2006 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Psychology, specifically focusing on the field of Cognition, Brains, and Behavior. Bryan dedicated himself to this program until 2013, completing their doctoral studies.

In 2017, Bryan pursued further education at Alliant International University-San Francisco Bay, where they obtained a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music. This credential program lasted until 2018.
