Drew Hinkel

Drew Hinkel has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Drew began their career as a Writer/Reporter for The Morning Call in 2003. Drew then transitioned to work as a Sports Producer for NBCUniversal until 2005. Following this, they worked as a Substitute Teacher for Bangor Area School District from 2005 to 2007.

In 2007, Drew joined East Penn School District and held various roles throughout their tenure. Drew started as a Teacher and served as a head teacher, district grade level leader, and elementary math leader. Drew mentored new teachers and student teachers while differentiating instruction to create personalized learning experiences. In 2015, they became an Instructional Specialist, delivering professional learning opportunities and facilitating data-driven discussions with families.

In 2016, Drew took on the role of Principal for an elementary school within the East Penn School District. Drew provided instructional and operational leadership, overseeing the implementation of initiatives such as full-day kindergarten, 1:1 technology, and trauma-informed practices. Drew also successfully navigated the challenges of remote and hybrid learning models during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most recently, Drew served as the Director of Human Resources for East Penn School District. In this role, they led personnel functions for the district, aligning human resources with the district's vision. Drew directed recruiting, hiring, and retention efforts for employees across four bargaining units and non-bargaining employees.

Drew Hinkel has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism from Moravian University, which was obtained from 1999 to 2003. In 2005 to 2006, they pursued a K-6 Teaching Certificate from Moravian University Graduate and Continuing Studies. Later, from an unspecified start year to 2013, they attended Lehigh University and completed a Master of Education (M.Ed) degree with a focus on PK-12 Principal Certification in Educational Leadership. Recently, in 2020 to 2021, Drew pursued a HR in Public Schools Certification from Moravian University Graduate and Continuing Studies, specializing in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration.
