Mike McClelland currently serves as a Visiting Teaching Professor at Eastern Illinois University, focusing on creative writing and literature for both undergraduate and graduate students. As an accomplished writer, McClelland's debut book, "Gay Zoo Day: Tales of Seeking and Discovery," received the 2018 Silver Benjamin Franklin Award for Best LGBT Literature. Previous experiences include roles as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at The University of Georgia, Graduate Assistant at Georgia College, and Director of Strategic Communications at Georgia State University. McClelland has a robust background in strategic planning and digital marketing, having worked with notable companies such as Cavalry, Ogilvy & Mather, and WPP. Academically, McClelland holds a PhD in Creative Writing from The University of Georgia, an MFA from Georgia College & State University, and is pursuing a Master's in Education focusing on Diversity & Equity in Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
