Geraldine Travers

Geraldine Travers MNZM JP has a distinguished career in education and governance, serving as Chair of Te Pūkenga since February 2020 and previously as a member of the Eastern Institute of Technology Ltd Board from April 2020 to October 2022. Geraldine Travers was also a Councillor for Hastings District Council from October 2016 to October 2022, where the role included chairing the Operations and Monitoring Committee. Prior to these roles, Geraldine Travers held significant educational positions, including Council Chair and Board Member at the Eastern Institute of Technology from March 2008 to March 2020, and Principal at Hastings Girls' High School from January 1998 to April 2017. Additional educational leadership roles include Principal at St Mary's Diocesan School and Assistant Principal at Havelock North High School. Geraldine Travers began teaching at Paeroa College and Rotorua Girls' High School, where expertise in History and Social Studies was demonstrated. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts and a Certificate in Maori Studies, among others.
