Chris Hartnett

Senior Environmental Scientist at Eastern Research Group, Inc.

Christine Hartnett has spent her professional career supporting safety, health, and environmental management initiatives. She helps federal facilities implement management systems to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses, minimize their environmental impacts, meet compliance obligations, improve efficiencies, and reduce waste. Chris also collects and scores SHEM performance data from federal facilities, pinpointing areas needing improvement and recommending best practices to bridge gaps.

Communication is an important element of her work. Chris specializes in distilling complex, technical information into concise summary reports, outreach products, and educational materials. For example, she has prepared multiple editions of EPA’s Protecting the Environment and the Employees publication; training packages on a variety of topics; and a web-based toolkit for employers that addresses workplace stress and mental health issues.

Chris holds a B.S. in biology from Brown University and a Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas in Austin.
