Joy Onasch

Pollution Prevention Project Manager at Eastern Research Group, Inc.

For over 25 years, Joy Onasch has managed and/or supported environmental compliance and pollution prevention projects for a wide variety of clients, including government agencies; military facilities; universities; and businesses in the food and beverage, metal finishing, and general manufacturing sectors. She specializes in helping clients understand the business case for investing in facility modifications to prevent pollution and in engineering solutions to reduce their use of toxic chemicals. These projects have helped many of her clients achieve significant pollution prevention.

Through this work, Joy has developed a deep understanding of alternatives assessments and how to amplify project successes to peer groups. For example, she uses live and virtual events, videos, and case studies to help facilities tell their stories—including lessons learned as well as successes—to other P2 professionals or industrial audiences with similar challenges.

Joy earned a B.S in mechanical engineering from Union College and an M.S. in engineering and policy from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a registered Professional Engineer in three states and a Certified Toxics Use Reduction Planner in Massachusetts.
