Sandeep Kishan

Vice President at Eastern Research Group, Inc.

Sandeep Kishan, P.E., is a leading national and international expert in transportation emission modeling and control strategies to reduce pollution and improve fuel economy. An ERG vice president with 30+ years of experience, he has worked with international, national, state, and local governmental organizations to develop the data and models to simulate vehicle and transportation systems and their influence on ambient pollution and energy use. He has supported development of all major U.S. emission models, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s MOBILE and MOVES models and the California Air Resources Board’s EMFAC model.

Sandeep directs ERG’s mobile sources group. In recent years, he has led on-road vehicle emission studies for hundreds of vehicles that form the foundation of EPA’s current emission model, MOVES, and has managed EPA contracts to examine emission reductions and fuel savings, implement the National Portable Emissions Measurements Systems study, and advise multiple states on their inspection and maintenance programs. He has worked internationally on transportation projects in Mexico, Thailand, Canada, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

Sandeep has served on numerous professional committees, including mobile source review committees under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, the Industrial Advisory Council in Texas A&M University’s Mechanical Engineering Department, and the Transportation Research Board’s Transportation and Air Quality Committee. In 2010, the Coordinating Research Council recognized him as an “outstanding contributor” for two decades of research and participation at its On-Road Vehicles Emissions Workshop. Sandeep has a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Bombay and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.
