Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site
Emerald Sims is an experienced dance educator currently working with Urban Movement Arts, MoveMakers Philly, and Philly Music Factory since August 2022. In addition to this role, Emerald serves as a hostess at City Winery starting January 2024 and has been involved as event staff at the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc. since August 2021. Previously, Emerald taught English at The City School from August 2022 to August 2023 and worked as a summer school teacher at Learn It Academic Services from July 2022 to July 2023. Additional teaching experience includes serving as a substitute teacher with Teaching Nomad from January to June 2022. Emerald also has a background in customer service as a customer service ambassador at Panera Bread and worked as a neurofeedback technician and research assistant at Wilkes University while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sports Psychology from 2016 to 2020. Other roles include recruiter at A Brand New Age Home Care and residential program worker at Children's Service Center of Wyoming Valley, Inc.

Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site interprets the legacy of American criminal justice reform, from the nation’s founding through to the present day, within the long-abandoned cellblocks of the nation’s most historic prison. Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc. is a charitable nonprofit organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Its innovative preservation, interpretation, and public programs move visitors to engage in dialogue and deepen the national conversation about criminal justice.
