Lauren Zalut

Lauren Zalut has a strong background in museum and educational program management. Lauren began their career at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, where they worked as a Museum Educator and Communications Coordinator from 2006 to 2010. During their time there, they developed and taught science lessons, created programming for family events, and raised the museum's visibility through media outreach and social media.

In 2011, Zalut joined the American Swedish Historical Museum as an Education Manager. In this role, they researched and developed public programs, supervised visitor service staff, and planned events connected to special exhibitions.

Since 2012, Zalut has been with the Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc. Lauren started as an Associate Director for Tour Development and Evaluation, then moved to Associate Director for Tour Programs and Education before becoming Director of Education and Tour Programs. In their current role, Zalut oversees a team of educators and is responsible for shaping the vision and programming for over 300,000 visitors annually. Lauren also coordinates community collaborations and special events.

Lauren Zalut received a Certificate in Nonprofit Ascending Leadership from Bryn Mawr College in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Temple University in 2005, with a concentration in Visual Studies and Art History. Lauren began their higher education at Ithaca College in 2001, where they studied Cinema and Photography, as well as Anthropology, although their degree status is unknown.
