Soumendra Basu

Soumendra Basu has extensive experience in technology and innovation roles within the specialty plastics and coatings industries. Currently serving as Director of Technology for Eastman's Specialty Plastics Division since August 2022, responsibilities include overseeing P&L for major innovations and achieving 1.5X GDP year-over-year organic growth for the Coatings Adhesives Sealant Elastomer (CASE) Division. Prior to this, Soumendra Basu held positions at General Motors from July 2005 to March 2009 as both Senior Researcher and Researcher in Composite Materials, focusing on analytical skills and critical thinking in material science. Soumendra Basu holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in Coatings from the University of Minnesota and completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
