Jana Broecker

Jana Broecker is a Senior Scientific Officer in the Industry Partnerships team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) since April 2025, focusing on the EMBL-EBI Industry Programme. Previously, Jana served as Lead Scientist and Project Lead as well as Senior Scientist II and I in Protein Sciences at Nxera Pharma from September 2017 to March 2025. Jana completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Structural Biology at the University of Toronto (September 2013 - August 2017), where notable achievements included securing funding from the German Research Foundation for successful membrane-protein structure determination projects. Prior experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Molecular Biophysics at the University of Kaiserslautern, where Jana led significant biophysical studies, and an earlier PhD at the same institution focused on membrane-protein stability and protein-ligand interactions. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Biophysics from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and a Patent Engineer degree from FernUniversität in Hagen.
