Sharyanne McSwain is Echoing Green’s Chief Operating Officer. She joined the organization with more than 30 years of financial services and business operations experience, working in nonprofit management, financial engineering, financial services marketing, and municipal finance.
At Echoing Green, Sharyanne oversees all aspects of the organization’s internal management and administrative systems supporting the Finance, Operations, Communications, Human Resources, and Programs teams. Most recently, the launch of the organization’s Racial Equity Philanthropic Fund and related programs focused on advancing racial equity has given her the opportunity to dive deep into the continuous restructuring of the organization’s goals to align with and amplify Echoing Green’s mission to build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for all.
Prior to Echoing Green, Sharyanne served as Chief Financial and Administrative Officer at StoryCorps, the national nonprofit organization that strives to preserve and share humanity’s stories, many shared on its NPR radio broadcast. She also had a successful career in international financial services and business operations working over 30 years on investment banking teams in New York, Japan, and France. Sharyanne was the lead banker on the creation of the first US-based structured investment vehicle with assets of $5 billion, and her multi-currency, multi-national receivables asset securitization won accolades from International Financing Review.
Sharyanne received an MBA from INSEAD in France and received a BA in Urban Studies from Mount Holyoke College. She is an active alum at both of those institutions, having served in board roles. She also serves on the board of several nonprofits, including Airbnb.org and Aide et Actions. Sharyanne lives in Brooklyn where she spends her free time tending her roof garden and collecting art.
