Jenny Young has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering field. Jenny started their career at Alenia Marconi Systems as a Systems Group Leader from an unknown start date to an unknown end date. Jenny then joined BAE Systems as a Systems Engineering Manager from February 2007 to September 2010, where they were responsible for education liaison, supporting STEM activities, and overseeing systems activities on projects. In 2010, they moved on to The Royal Academy of Engineering, where they initially served as a Project Manager for the National HE STEM Programme (Engineering) from September 2010 to July 2011, focusing on outreach, diversity, and widening participation elements. Jenny later became the Head of Diversity from July 2011 to September 2017, leading efforts to promote and support diversity within the engineering profession through collaboration with various stakeholders. Most recently, Jenny Young joined ECITB as the Head of Skills Strategy - South and EDP from September 2017 to January 2020. Jenny then transitioned to the role of Head of Strategy, Policy & Insights from January 2020 to January 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Deputy Director, Strategy & Policy at ECITB from January 2022.
Jenny Young obtained a Bachelor's degree (MA) in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, where they studied from 1987 to 1990. Prior to that, they attended Ashford School from 1982 to 1986 and The Royal Masonic School for Girls from 1979 to 1982. Jenny also holds additional certifications, including the "Strategic Approaches to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion - CMI Level 7" from In Professional Development (InPD), acquired in 2022, and the "Advanced Management Programme" from In Professional Development (INPD), obtained in 2021.
