A staggering number of surfaces are manufactured using quartz, the dust of which contains respirable crystalline silica (RCS). RCS is often referred to as the new asbestos because it’s a proven cause of silicosis, a terminal respiratory disease. Current legislation allows engineered stone to be comprised of up to 40% crystalline silica. The truth is any percentage of RCS is dangerous, except 0%, so that’s exactly what we worked towards. Our solid surfaces are made from 100% recycled glass which contains no crystalline silica. As a result, it’s better for the health of people working with it and it’s better for the health of our planet too.
