Maria "Maryska" Kaczmarek is a Senior Research Scientist and Program Coordinator at EcoHealth Alliance since October 2020, previously serving as High Containment Laboratories Manager and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at NYU Langone Health. During the postdoctoral fellowship, Kaczmarek led a research project on chikungunya virus infection in mosquitoes. Kaczmarek completed a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, and Behavior at The University of Texas at Austin, where a dissertation focused on viral-driven evolution of host cellular receptors was undertaken. Prior research experience includes roles at Harvard University, assisting with projects on microbial evolution and the Beetle Tree of Life. Kaczmarek holds a BA in Biology and French from Wellesley College.
