Virginia Verardi

Virginia Verardi is an accomplished archeologist and heritage conservator with extensive experience in managing archaeological operations and cultural heritage institutions. Currently serving as the Cheffe du Service archéologie at the Département du Val-de-Marne since October 2021, Virginia oversees preventive archaeology, diagnostics, excavations in collaboration with INRAP, and the promotion of archaeological findings to local communities. From July 2012 to October 2021, Virginia held the position of Conservatrice en chef du patrimoine and Directrice des musées for the Ville de Châlons-en-Champagne, focusing on collection management, financial oversight, and the organization of temporary exhibitions that resulted in scientific publications. Additionally, Virginia has been involved in academia as a chargée de cours for various institutions since 1999, specializing in archaeology and heritage studies. Virginia holds dual PhDs in Archéologie orientale and Langues et Littératures Orientales from Université Paris I Panthéon/Sorbonne and Université libre de Bruxelles, respectively.
