James Higgins

James Higgins has a diverse work experience in the legal field. James most recently worked as a Senior Counsel at the New York City Economic Development Corporation since February 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Associate at WilmerHale from March 2020 to February 2022. James also gained experience as an Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP from June 2016 to February 2020. James began their legal career as an Intern at Emerald Isle Immigration Center from November 2013 to July 2015. James then worked as a Legal Adviser at Housing Rights Service from September 2011 to September 2013. James also held positions as a Legal Assistant at Herbert Smith Freehills from February 2013 to August 2013 and as a Parliamentary Intern at the House of Commons in July and August 2012.

James Higgins has a diverse education history. James began their studies in 2003 at Ulster University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with a focus on Law with Economics. James completed this program in 2007. During their time at Ulster University, they also obtained a Business Education Initiative/Study USA Scholarship and attended Dominican University, where they studied Business Administration in 2005-2006.

After completing their LLB, Higgins furthered their legal education by pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at Queen's University Belfast, specializing in Corporate Governance & Public Policy. James completed this program in 2009.

In 2011-2012, Higgins attended Queen's University Belfast again, this time obtaining a Master of Science (MSc) degree in International Business with a focus on International Business.

Continuing their academic pursuits, Higgins was the recipient of a Study China Scholarship in 2012 and studied Chinese Studies at East China Normal University.

Lastly, in 2015-2016, they attended the University of Virginia School of Law, where they obtained a Master of Laws (LLM) degree specializing in Banking, Corporate, Finance, and Securities Law.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Higgins received a certification from the New York State Bar Association in June 2010, allowing him to practice law in New York with a Bar Admission.
