Lena Ferguson

Lena Ferguson's work experience begins in 2013 as a Summer of Maps Fellow at Azavea, where they performed advanced geospatial analysis and completed projects with partner organizations. In 2013, they also became a Research Analyst at the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, where they led and supported various qualitative and quantitative research projects for clients such as Rockefeller Foundation and JPMorgan Chase. Lena then joined HR&A Advisors in 2017 as an Analyst Fellow, before moving on to become a Mapping TA at Harvard University Graduate School of Design later that year. Since 2018, Lena has been working at the New York City Economic Development Corporation, initially as a Project Manager and then as a Senior Project Manager in the Neighborhood Strategies team. Currently, they hold the role of Assistant Vice President, leading and supporting complex urban development projects and overseeing teams. Their responsibilities include strategy development, stakeholder engagement, research, and the creation of visual and written materials. Some of their ongoing projects include the Fifth Avenue Public Realm and the Harlem African Burial Ground.

Lena Ferguson pursued their undergraduate education from 2009 to 2013 at Bryn Mawr College, where they earned an A.B. degree. Their major was in Growth and Structure of Cities, and they also completed a minor program in Environmental Studies. Later on, from 2016 to 2018, Lena attended the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where they obtained a Master's degree in Urban Planning.
