Doug Smart is the Head of Environment, Health, and Safety at EDF Energy, overseeing a team that covers Fire Safety, Radiological Protection, Emergency Preparedness, and Occupational Health. With a strong background in industrial safety and operational management within the energy sector, Doug has demonstrated a commitment to improving health, safety, and environmental performance throughout their career. This includes roles such as Transition Support Manager, Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability Director, Head of Industrial Safety (Coal, Gas & Renewables), and Head of ESCS Industrial Safety. Doug's experience also includes various leadership roles at power stations and a volunteer position focused on conservation and community work. With a PGDip in Occupational Health and Safety Management from Loughborough University, Doug has a solid foundation in health and safety practices.
