Carla Young is an experienced communications professional, currently serving as Head of Communications at EDL since September 2022. Previously, Carla held several impactful roles at BHP from July 2014 to June 2022, including Manager Partners, Innovation & Community, where Carla led initiatives to enhance economic participation for local and Indigenous businesses through programs like the Local Buying Program. Other roles at BHP included Chief of Staff to the Vice President Supply, Minerals Australia, and Manager Communications for Olympic Dam and BMA, where Carla managed strategic communication efforts for large-scale mining operations and developed crucial stakeholder relationships. Prior professional experience includes serving as Corporate Affairs Manager at Transpacific Industries Group and working in communications roles for Brisbane City Council and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Carla holds a Bachelor of Business in Public Relations from Queensland University of Technology.
