Yasmine Sherif is the Director of Education Cannot Wait at Education Cannot Wait. Yasmine has worked extensively in the field of international humanitarian law and human rights law.

Sherif began their career as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer with the United Nations in 1998. In this role, they provided assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons in Afghanistan. From 2001 to 2004, they served as an Expert Adviser on International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law with the International Bureau for Humanitarian Issues. In 2004, they took on the role of Lead Protection Assessment Sudan with the International Rescue Committee.

After a year working with the IRC, Sherif joined the United Nations as a Special Adviser on Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization. Yasmine held this position for 10 years, during which time they also served as an Adviser on Afghanistan. In 2016, they left the United Nations to join the Global Center for Justice & Humanity as Vice President & Director for International Relations. Yasmine held this position until December 2017.

Sherif has also taught International Human Rights Law and International Politics at Long Island University as an Adjunct Professor.

Yasmine Sherif received a Master's degree in International Law and Legal Studies from Stockholm University. Yasmine also has a Master's Degree in International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law from the same school.
