Mark de Backer

Mark De Backer is an experienced professional in the careers and employability sector with a comprehensive background in leadership and management. At Education Development Trust, Mark served as Head of Careers from September 2019 to November 2024, overseeing all careers-focused contacts and managing a significant portfolio valued at approximately £15 million. Previous positions include Deputy Director for the Youth Careers offer and IAG Commercial Manager at the same organization, as well as Regional Manager at CfBT Advice and Guidance Limited, where responsibilities included the oversight of the National Careers Service contract in the South Central region. Mark's earlier experience at Babcock International Group PLC involved managing a large team delivering careers services across multiple regions, and Mark began a career in retail management with Help the Aged. Mark holds a BA Hons degree in Archaeology from the University of York and an NVQ4 in Guidance from Canterbury Christ Church University.
