Jim Boenig is a seasoned professional in the field of engineering and aquifer protection, currently serving as the Director of Aquifer Protection at the Edwards Aquifer Authority since June 2015. In this role, Jim Boenig oversees the development, direction, and evaluation of aquifer protection programs, including well registration and conservation easement inspections. Previously, as a Senior Project Manager at S&GE, LLC from January 2012 to June 2015, Jim Boenig specialized in the design and management of water/wastewater and land development projects. Jim Boenig also gained valuable experience as the Engineering Manager at the San Antonio River Authority, leading a team to manage significant capital improvement projects and increase staff productivity from November 2002 to June 2011. Earlier in Jim Boenig's career, as a Project Manager at Don Durden Civil Engineering Consultants, Inc., expertise was developed in land development engineering services. Jim Boenig holds a BS in Agricultural Engineering from Texas A&M University, earned between 1979 and 1983.

Edwards Aquifer Authority

The Edwards Aquifer Authority is a political subdivision of the State of Texas that was created to manage, enhance, and protect the Edwards Aquifer system. A 17-member board of directors representing Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde counties continues its mission Teams of geologists, hydro-geologists, environmental scientists, environmental technicians, educators, and administrative staff collaborate daily to manage, enhance, and protect the Edwards Aquifer for the approximately 2 million South Texans who rely on the aquifer as their primary source of water. The focus of the Education Program is to inform and educate our community of learners about the Edwards Aquifer and the issues affecting it as the region's primary water resource.
