The Edwards Aquifer Authority is a political subdivision of the State of Texas that was created to manage, enhance, and protect the Edwards Aquifer system.  A 17-member board of directors representing Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde counties continues its mission

Teams of geologists, hydro-geologists, environmental scientists, environmental technicians, educators, and administrative staff collaborate daily to manage, enhance, and protect the Edwards Aquifer for the approximately 2 million South Texans who rely on the aquifer as their primary source of water.

The focus of the Education Program is to inform and educate our community of learners about the Edwards Aquifer and the issues affecting it as the region's primary water resource.

The Aquifer Science and Protection Team at the Edwards Aquifer Authority is responsible for conducting scientific research and implementing protection strategies to ensure the sustainability and quality of the Edwards Aquifer. This team utilizes its expertise in geoscience, environmental science, and groundwater management to monitor aquifer conditions, develop predictive models, and enforce protective measures, thereby safeguarding this vital water resource for approximately 2 million South Texans.
