Deputy Director Internal Market Affairs Directorate at EFTA Surveillance Authority

Maria Moustakali's work experience includes serving as Deputy Director in the Internal Market Affairs Directorate at the EFTA Surveillance Authority since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked as an Inquiries Officer at the European Ombudsman from May 2018 to October 2021. From July 2011 to April 2018, Maria worked as an Officer in Legal & Executive Affairs at the EFTA Surveillance Authority, where they prepared written pleadings, orally pleaded cases, and provided consultations regarding decisions in competition, state aid, and internal market cases. Maria also worked as a Corporate and Antitrust Associate at Zepos & Yannopoulos from March 2009 to July 2010, and as an External Agent of the Legal Service at the European Commission during the same period. Maria began their career as a Civil and Corporate Law Associate at Alexandropoulos & Economidou, where they drafted motions and contracts, participated in negotiations, and handled contract disputes.

Maria Moustakali has a strong educational background in law. Maria first pursued a law degree at the National & Kapodistrian University from 2003 to 2005. Following that, they obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the same university from 2005 to 2007. Maria then went on to pursue further legal studies at the College of Europe from 2007 to 2008, where they earned another Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree. Lastly, they attended Columbia University School of Law from 2010 to 2011, where they completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree.
