Katharine Korunes

Katharine Korunes is a Scientific Consultant at Eva Garland Consulting, LLC since March 2022, specializing in strategy and grant writing for biotechnology and biomedical researchers. Previously, at Duke University from August 2014 to March 2022, Korunes held the positions of Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Evolutionary Anthropology and Graduate Research Fellow in the Program in Genetics & Genomics, where research focused on computational methods and genetic variations among diverse human populations, resulting in 8 publications and successful external grant applications. Additional experience includes a graduate research internship at the US Environmental Protection Agency, where Korunes developed genomic strategies to assess mammalian responses to environmental chemicals, and a research assistant role at The University of Georgia, investigating repetitive DNA and annotating the genome of Sarcocystis neurona. Korunes earned a PhD in Genetics and Genomics from Duke University in 2019 and a BS in Genetics from The University of Georgia in 2013.
