Jan Hansen has a diverse work experience in the maritime industry. Jan started their career in 1966 at Anders Jahres rederi, where they held various positions as an engineer, motorman, fireman & oiler. Jan then joined JO tankers in 1986 as a Chief Engineer, staying there until 2001. After that, they worked at IUM from 1997 to 2002 as a Chief Engineer. In 2001, they briefly worked at Brøvig ASA as a Chief Engineer on an F.P.S. project. From 2003 to 2010, they joined Fred Olsen and DOF, respectively, as a Staff Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer. Jan later worked at Skibladner as an Engineer for a short period in 2013. Currently, they are the Chief Engineer at Eidesvik Offshore ASA, a position they have held since September 2010.
Jan Hansen attended Tønsberg Maskinistskole from 1972 to 1975, where they earned a degree in maritime engineering with a focus on steam and diesel engines. Jan later returned to Tønsberg Maskinistskole to pursue a degree in Chief Engineering, although the specific timeframe for this study is not provided.
