R. Dakota Carter, MD, Ed.D has a well-rounded work experience in the field of healthcare.

Dr. Carter began their career at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) as a Psychiatrist, where they worked from July 2014 to June 2019.

Following that, they served as the Medical Director at Brazos Valley Behavioral Health from July 2017 to June 2020.

Dr. Carter then moved on to Rock Prairie Behavioral Health, where they held the position of Chief Medical Officer from June 2019 to June 2020.

In June 2020, Dr. Carter joined UHS as the Chief Medical Officer and worked in this capacity until February 2022.

They continued their career at Charlie Health, starting in January 2022 as the Medical Director until June 2023.

Currently, Dr. Carter holds the position of Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Eisenhower Health, starting in December 2022.

In 2010-2014, they pursued a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston), specializing in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2010, they completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government at the University of North Texas. Later, in 2015-2017, they furthered their education by obtaining a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree in Professional Leadership and Curriculum Development for Healthcare Sciences from the University of Houston.
