Kristian van der Hoek has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Kristian started their career as a Help Desk Representative at Raytheon Systems of Canada in 1996 and later worked as a Software Developer at the same company. In 1998, they worked as an ATM Test Engineer at Telus.
From 1999 to 2001, they served as a Software Engineer at NCompass Labs Inc., where they created and executed performance, stress, and scalability scripts. Kristian also aided in successfully shipping NCompass Resolution 4.0 and re-branding the product to Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 after it was acquired by Microsoft Corporation.
At Microsoft, from 2001 to 2005, they worked as a Software Design Engineer in Test, specializing in performance, scalability, configuration, and extranet testing for Content Management Server.
From 2006 to 2009, they acted as the Lead Performance Test Engineer at Top Producer Systems. Kristian'sresponsibilities included performance testing and investigating performance issues. Kristian also collaborated with senior management to devise performance test strategies and processes.
At Move, Inc., they held multiple roles. From 2009 to 2013, they were the Principal Performance Engineer, responsible for all web performance-related work. Kristian also led the Performance Engineering Team, mentored team members, and advocated performance principles and best practices. From 2013 to 2014, they took on the role of Product Manager, focusing on growing organic leads for Move Inc.'s Moving business.
From 2015 to 2017, they worked as the Lead Performance Engineer at Stytch, Inc., where they created and executed the performance test strategy for the Stytch BI Platform. In addition, they led a cross-functional Continuous Delivery effort to optimize test and deployment efficiency.
From 2017 to 2018, they served as the Performance Engineering Lead at Calabrio, Inc. Kristian led the performance engineering team, using automated performance testing and advocating performance best practices. Kristian also took on the roles of operations engineer and release engineer.
Since 2018, they have been working as the Lead Performance Engineer at Elastic Path Software.
Kristian van der Hoek earned a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Engineering from The University of British Columbia, which they attended from 1994 to 2001. Prior to that, they attended Duchess Park Secondary School from 1989 to 1994. In addition to their formal education, Kristian has obtained several certifications from Elastic Path, including Elastic Path Commerce Certified Developer, Elastic Path Commerce Certified Quality Assurance Engineer, and Elastic Path Commerce CloudOps for Kubernetes Graduate, all in 2021.
