Rebecca Anderson

Director of Spiritual Care at Mercy Retirement & Care Center

Rebecca Anderson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the field of spiritual care and ministry. Rebecca has served as the Director of Spiritual Care at Mercy Retirement & Care Center, where they supervised a team of chaplains and provided spiritual support to residents. Prior to that, they worked as a Creative Freelance Officiant for Sacred Ceremonies at When the Spirit Moves, customizing and officiating ceremonies while respecting the traditions and values of those they served. Rebecca also volunteered as a clergy member and sabbatical pastor at Peninsula Metropolitan Community Church and served as a chaplain resident at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Rebecca has worked in bereavement coordination and volunteer coordination roles at AseraCare Hospice, providing support to families and loved ones of patients and guiding them through the grief process. Additionally, Rebecca has served as an intentional interim specialist and senior pastor at Metropolitan Community Church of San Jose, leading the congregation through a process of change. Rebecca has also engaged in freelance and consulting work in ministry, education, natural science, and the arts. Rebecca's experience also includes working as a Questionnaire Assistance Center Representative at the U.S. Census Bureau. Rebecca Anderson completed their education at the Pacific School of Religion from 2005 to 2009, where they obtained a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree. During their time at the Pacific School of Religion, they pursued studies in Theology and also earned a Certificate in Sexuality and Religion. Prior to this, from 1991 to 1994, Rebecca attended Sonoma State University, where they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree. Their field of study at Sonoma State University was Biology, Natural History, and Environmental Education.
