Juan Melara-Pineda is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in accessibility and inclusion within electoral processes. Currently serving as the Manager of Accessibility and Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) at Élections Canada since 2013, Juan leads initiatives aimed at enhancing the participation of individuals with disabilities and other equity-seeking groups. Previously, Juan held positions including Senior Analyst and Team Lead for Accessibility, where the development of the first Accessibility Plan was a key focus, and Senior Outreach Officer, responsible for fostering partnerships to ensure an inclusive electoral process. Additional experience includes roles at the Correctional Service of Canada, uOttawa as a Teaching Assistant, and the Privy Council Office. Juan holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Political Science, specializing in International Relations and Comparative Politics from the University of Ottawa.
