JP Stewart has a diverse and extensive work experience. JP began their career in 2011 as a Design, Build, Fly Mentor and Team Pilot at Virginia Tech. In 2012, they took on the role of UAV Pilot at AVID LLC. In 2014, they became Co-Founder/President at Grovio and was a Yale Entrepreneurial Institute Fellow and a Thiel Fellowship Finalist. In 2016, they joined Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation as a Senior Technical Program Manager and Mechanical Engineer and Electric Propulsion Test Lead. In 2020, they joined Electra.aero as Vice President & General Manager and then as Director of Programs & General Manager, leading the development of electric short takeoff and landing (eSTOL) aircraft.
JP Stewart obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from Virginia Tech. Prior to this, they were Valedictorian of both Roanoke Valley Governor's School and Hidden Valley High School. JP also holds certifications as a Flight Instructor and Commercial Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration, a HAM General License from the Federal Communications Commission, and a Part 107 UAS Operator from the Federal Aviation Administration.
