Tim McDonald

President at Electro Magnetic Applications

Tim McDonald, PhD has extensive work experience in various research and leadership roles. Tim currently serves as the President and Chief Scientist at Electro Magnetic Applications, Inc., where they lead teams in analyzing 3D models of electromagnetic waves and fields. Their work involves developing simulation tools to advance the certification of air and space craft to program requirements. Additionally, they have led research in novel nanomaterials as sensors and EMI-mitigating materials.

Prior to their current role, Tim worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, focusing on the fabrication and characterization of coupled single-electron tunneling junctions. Tim also initiated a research effort to study the opto-electronic properties of single-layer graphene nanoribbons.

Before that, Tim served as a Graduate Research Assistant at both the National Renewable Energy Lab and Columbia University. At these institutions, they worked on projects related to the development of new materials for photoconversion and synthesized nanoscale devices containing carbon nanotubes.

Tim's research career began with research internships at the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), Columbia University, and the University of Florida. During these internships, they gained experience in data incorporation, electron-beam lithography, atomic force microscopy, and evaluating nanotube devices.

Overall, Tim McDonald's work experience showcases their expertise in the field of electromagnetic applications and nanomaterial research, making him a valuable asset in advancing technological advancements.

Tim McDonald, PhD, has a strong education background in applied physics. Tim pursued their undergraduate studies from 1998 to 2002 at Oklahoma Baptist University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics. Continuing their academic journey, they then attended Columbia University from 2002 to 2007, where they obtained their Ph.D. in Applied Physics.
