Kate Coates has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Kate started their career as a Design Services Intern at United Communications Group (UCG), where they worked on various web and print projects. Kate then moved on to a Graphic Design Intern/Consultant position at the National Building Museum, where they led a successful rebrand of the museum's shop website and worked on various design projects.
Kate also served as a Graphic Design Consultant at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), where they implemented design strategies and concepts for the university's materials. Kate later joined Broadhurst Architects, Inc. as a Front End Web Developer/Graphic Designer, where they led the redesign of The Crib: An Enviresponsible Shelter website and designed promotional materials.
At ADG Creative, they worked as a Designer, successfully launching rebrands and contributing to early-stage wireframing for client website overhauls. Kate then joined Eleven Peppers Studios as a Senior UX Designer, where they played a key role in solving user experience design challenges and leading the kickoff for a new web-based application. Kate also served as an Adjunct Professor at UMBC, teaching design-related courses.
Throughout their career, Kate has demonstrated skills in branding, logo design, presentation design, environmental design, and user experience design. Kate has experience working in agile environments and conducting field interviews and usability studies. Kate's work experience showcases their ability to deliver high-quality design solutions and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and developers.
Kate Coates received a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from the University of Maryland Baltimore County from 2009 to 2013. Kate then pursued a Master's Degree in Interaction Design and Information Architecture from the University of Baltimore from 2015 to 2018.
