Catherine Vandenborre

Chief Executive Officer Ad Interim at Elia Group

Catherine Vandenborre has a diverse work experience spanning various leadership and executive roles in multiple companies. Catherine started their career as an Audit Senior Assistant at Coopers & Lybrand in 1993. Catherine then worked as a Controller at OCCH-CBHK from 1996 to 1999. In 1999, they joined Elia as the Head of Accounting & Finance, and later became the Head of Internal Audit & Program Management from 2004 to 2005. From 2006 to 2012, they served as the CEO of Belpex SA. In 2010, Catherine became a Member of the Executive Committee at APX-ENDEX until 2012. Catherine then returned to Elia as the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer from 2012 to 2013. Catherine also held the position of Group CFO from 2014 to 2023, and is currently serving as the Group CEO a.i. at Elia. In addition to their roles at Elia, Catherine has been an Independent Board Member at Proximus since 2014 and a Board Member at Brussels Airlines from 2020 to 2022.

Catherine Vandenborre has a diverse education history. In 1988, they obtained a degree in Applied Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain. In 1993, they pursued a Diploma in Accountancy and Bedrijfsrevisoraat at KU Leuven. From 1996 to 1998, they attended the Ichec Brussels Management School, specializing in Tax Law/Taxation. In 1998, they furthered their education by earning a Diplôme en gestion des risques financiers from UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles. In 2009, they completed an IEP at INSEAD. Lastly, in 2017, they participated in the Executive Program at Singularity University, focusing on helping leaders navigate accelerating changes.
