Steve Carlson has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Steve'smost recent role is as a Project Manager at Elliott Bay Design Group, starting in 2023. Prior to that, they founded and served as President of The Steve Carlson Group, specializing in engineering management, organization, and regulatory compliance.

From 2015 to 2021, Carlson worked at Centerline Logistics Corporation, first as the Vice President of Engineering and then as the Senior Vice President of Engineering. Steve'sresponsibilities included overseeing the management and day-to-day functions of the engineering department, regulatory oversight compliance, and maintenance and repair projects for a fleet of tugs and barges.

Before Centerline Logistics Corporation, Carlson was the General Manager of Marine Engineering at Alaska Marine Lines, where they led a department responsible for regulatory oversight, maintenance, repair, and drydockings of a fleet of ocean-going barges and vessels.

Steve also served as the Director of Engineering at Kvichak Marine Industries, overseeing a team of engineers and designers working on commercial boat building projects.

Earlier in their career, Carlson held various roles in the U.S. Coast Guard, including Chief of the Office of Naval Engineering, where they managed the engineering and logistics support for the entire Coast Guard fleet. Steve also served as a Captain and a U.S. Coast Guard Officer.

Additionally, Carlson had leadership positions at USCG Naval Engineering Support Unit Seattle and the Buoy Tender Replacement Project Resident Office in Marinette, WI, where they oversaw construction and acquisition projects for seagoing ships.

Steve began their career as an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, teaching courses in engineering.

Steve Carlson began their education in 1978 at the US Coast Guard Academy, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Steve completed their undergraduate studies in 1982. Following this, from 1987 to 1989, they attended the University of Michigan, where they earned two Master's degrees. The first one was in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering, and the second in Mechanical Engineering.

In 2011, Steve enrolled at the University of Washington's Michael G. Foster School of Business for the Executive Development Program, which they completed in 2012.

In terms of certifications, Steve obtained a Professional Engineer (PE) certification from the State of Washington in September 2020. Additionally, in June 2022, they acquired a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
