Lorna Tanner

Lorna Tanner is currently a Senior Health & Safety Consultant at Ellis Whittam. Prior to this, they worked as a Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator at a college from January 2007 to June 2016. In this role, they were responsible for ensuring compliance in a large college which supports 800 staff and 12,000 students including building management systems.

During their time at the college, they achieved the sword of Honour, a prestigious health and safety award. Lorna also taught Level 2 Health and Safety, Assessor training and carried out inductions. In addition, they carried out inspections on food, schools (academy), student accommodation, environmental, health and safety and public health.

Lorna was also responsible for developing the Environmental and Health and Safety Management system as well as leading the Health and Safety and Sustainability/Environmental meetings. Other duties included dealing with complaints, enquiries and investigations as well as purchasing all health and safety products.

Lorna has extensive experience in creating and ensuring that all risk assessments, policies and procedures are current and valid. Lorna is also skilled in producing reports to the Board of Governors, detailing re-occurring incidents and remedial action.

Lorna Tanner's educational career includes a GCSE in Field from Huish Episcopi, a Bachelor of Science in Public and Environmental Health from the University of the West of England, an NEBOSH general certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from Bridgwater & Taunton College, and a HND in Applied Biology from the University of the West of England. Lorna also has a BTEC in Hotel Management from Somerset College of Arts and Technology and a PTLLS Level 4 from Weston College. Lorna is certified by NEBOSH in NEBOSH general certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and by CITB in Site Management Safety Training Scheme.
