Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas has a diverse work experience in finance and accounting roles. Michael is currently the Group Finance Director at Ellison since July 2021. In 2019, they worked as the Financial Controller at Ellison Europe Ltd and later as the Head of Accounting at Oh Polly. Prior to that, they worked as a Chartered Accountant at Bennett Brooks and Company Ltd from 2013 to 2019. Michael also held various leadership positions at the Chester & North Wales Chartered Accountant Student Society, including Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer. Michael'searlier roles include positions as an Accountant at Pursglove & Brown Chartered Accountants, Trainee Accountant at Bike Devils and Jones and Graham Accountants, and Bookkeeper at North Wales Accounting Services. In 2022, they joined ICAEW as the Chester & North Wales SCA - Chair and Vice Chair.

Michael Thomas has a diverse education history. Michael attended Darland High School from 2001 to 2006, where they obtained GCSEs in Maths, English, Science, Business, and Physical Education. In 2007, they briefly attended Yale College and received a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Business. From 2009 to 2011, they attended Yale College again and earned an AAT degree in Accounting. In 2011, Michael enrolled at BPP University College of Professional Studies and completed an ACA (ICAEW) degree in Accounting, graduating in 2014. In addition to their degrees, they obtained the MAAT certification from AAT in June 2011.
